Our Adipose Injection Treatment

How Does Adipose (fat) Tissue Help in Treating My Pain?

Adipose, or your body’s fat tissue, can be used to cushion and support damaged areas as your body heals itself. Adipose injections use a small amount of fat that is usually extracted from areas in your body with excess fat, such as the stomach or thighs.

The harvested fat or microfragmented adipose tissue (MFAT) is then injected into an area that needs additional support or cushioning.

Mechanically resized adipose tissue can also be a source of “stem cells” for certain diseases where it is FDA-approved, although Stemulis prefers bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) for most cases.

To learn more about adipose injections for chronic pain, ask your physician for more information during your consultation.

Benefits of Adipose Injections for Pain Treatment

Minimally-Invasive Procedure for Faster Healing Adipose injections aid and accelerate the recovery of damaged tissue.
Ethical and Low-risk Uses the patient's own fat, eliminating risks associated with donor tissue such as infections and autoimmune rejections.
Treatment for Fat Pad Pain (Hoffa’s Syndrome) Fat pad pain is typically caused by inflammation or trauma to the fat pad behind the kneecap. Adipose injections can help repair damaged tissue, reduce inflammation, and alleviate fat pad pain.
Treatment Versatility Assists in treating various conditions by providing cushioning and support where needed.

Adipose Injection Procedure Overview

01.
Mini-Liposuction Preparation The physician selects the optimal area for adipose tissue harvest.
02.
Adipose Harvesting The skin and underlying tissues are numbed using a small cannula (similar to a thin straw) containing numbing medicine or local anesthetic. This process also helps break up fat in the area for easier removal.
03.
Tissue Extraction The same cannula extracts the adipose tissue, which is then naturally separated or decanted and used in its raw form.
04.
Injection The raw adipose tissue is injected into the treatment site where its cushioning properties are needed.

Adipose Injection FAQs

The pain or discomfort level of Adipose injection procedures typically rates around 2 on a scale of 1-10. Most discomfort may stem from procedure anxiety and slight tenderness at the extraction and injection sites.

“Nine months after the PRP procedure for a rotator cuff tear, I am pain-free and have the full range of motion in my shoulder. No downtime/no sling and I was able to return to the gym two days after the injections. Would I do PRP again? ABSOLUTELY! Why would I not use my body’s own cells to heal an injury? No reason!”

“My greatest thanks for all you have done for me. I am a journeyman electrician who does a lot of overhead work, pole climbing, and pulling of cable—so I use my shoulder all day. After 2 years of left shoulder pain, I underwent an arthroscopic surgery which gave me no relief. After PRP 3 months ago, I am almost pain-free and am finally getting my life back! Thanks.”
